Extra cost
We were kept waiting at Fuerteventura airport for an hour and half by the actual off site car hire company Goby, which stated they pick up every 5 to 10 min . I phoned 3 times to be told in 5 min. Another customer waited too. After arguing that they were at the airport (definitely not)
they eventually upgraded the car and the car was good. There is no point buying Argus offered insurance £44. Goby ask for €150 on top of carhire price and a further deposit of £150 as a retainer for key and fuel. So far the car has cost over £300 + retainer for 6 days so not low cost.
Go direct to car hire companies and not use web agents to save the stress.
DONT USE THIS COMPANY
DONT USE THIS COMPANY
I am in the UK and booked car hire for my holiday in Spain. The company in Spain are OK Mobility and they are scammers.
I dropped the car off with no issues and while I was on my fight on the way home they put a £400 charge on my credit card. OK Mobility subsequently ignored my calls and emails.
I have now managed to get the money back through my credit card company (it took nearly 5 months).
I just called Argus as I thought they would be interested in knowing what type of companies they are dealing with. They said my booking was too old and "due to terms and conditions" there's nothing they can do about it. So, obviously no interest in improving their business practices or protecting future customers.

Paid for a car I wasn't provided!
Our flight was delayed and we arrived to Pisa around midnight. The rental desk was closed. My email didn't contain any details about closing times, so I assumed that they were going to wait for me to provide the car since this is an airport car rental and those usually are open very late to accommodate arrivals.
Since the closing time wasn't mentioned, I was stranded at the airport and had to pay 150 euros for taxi to get to my hotel close to Florence. The next day I contacted the rental to collect my car in the morning, but they rudely informed me that my car is no longer available, so I had to find another car rental. Despite refusing to provide me the car, I still got charged FULL PRICE for 5 days of rental.

When I got to the airport I was asked…
When I got to the airport I was asked to purchase extra insurance via Budget. I can't understand why I would have had to pay it twice and why Argus, if using Budget as a broker, do not have some sort of agreement with them to avoid scamming customers. The car was also in very poor condition and there was literally a hole in the console where a USB port should have been.
Never use this company
I booked car Hire with this company including Full insurance protection, When trying to collect the car I was told I had to pay an additional £270 insurance. I refused and the car was withheld. Argus Car hire refused point blank to refund. So I had no car and I'm down £900. Argus are based in Ireland so I am unable to make a court claim against them to get a refund. Be warned - Don't use this company - they are crooks

SCAMMED
Arrived at the Firefly Car Rental desk in Alicante airport after booking through Argus Car Hire, knowing that I would have to pay an additional cost of 40 euros, and got charged 364 euros!!! Said the additional cost was REQUIRED for the premium insurance, despite this not being listed as a requirement anywhere. Not only this but I had taken out separate excess cover, only to be told it didn't matter to them as it wasn't through their company. Avoid at all costs

Terrible Customer Service
Booking of 'In-Terminal' pick-up with Argus was not honored at the collection desk. Subsequent customer service from Argus offered no explanation, apology or compensation. Very bad experience. I will book direct in future. Any potential savings are not worth the hassle.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! We booked a jeep from Orlando airport, when we arrived no Jeep available. The guy behind the counter was so rude basically saying we had to have whatever car was offered to us!! On top of this, I had booked a car with a GPS, no GPS on their records so we ended up paying for another GPS!! Their attitude is disgusting talking to me as if I was stupid, I know what I booked so I will be claiming the money back for the GPS!! I also think you should receive what you have paid for and not a similar car, basically whatever they have left!! Not happy with the car we ended up with!

I was bullied in to paying for car…
I was bullied in to paying for car excess insurance at the airport when I had already paid Centauro who took my original booking. The lady behind the counter was so aggressive, said my previous paid insurance excess was not valid in Spain. I had the choice of paying the 250 euros upfront excess insurance, non refundable, or pay 1,000 euros upfront to cover the excess which she couldn't guarantee would be refunded on return of the vehicle. She said even the tiniest of scratches would mean they would keep the 1,000 euros, in effect it was a threat. Between Centauro's £69 excess insurance, and Argus Hires 250 euros, I feel like I've been completely ripped off. Not happy at all, thugs.
Had to pay twice to get a car at rental point.
finally arrived at the pick up point following various delays at airport / flight and 6 phone calls to seek transfer to pick up point.
As we were well over a 2 hour booking hold (somewhere in the Ts and Cs but I still can't find it) and having paid in full for the hire, the car was no longer available. As I was going to a wedding I had no choice but pay an additional 122 euros to hire the car and get going.
A complaint to Argus did not produce a satisfactory response, constantly claiming it's in the Ts & Cs.
There was a very unhelpful response from agent and would advise never to book a car hire through Argus.

Nollegiare car at Palermo…great.
Booked a Nollegiare car at Palermo airport, Sicily.
Good price and easy booking process with Argus Car Hire. All went smoothly on arrival and departure, car was clean but scratched on collection - those were all clearly marked on the form, all went well and I would use both companies again.

Some good some bad
Pros: no issues with car, enough space, staff that I spoke to were really polite and friendly and tried to be helpful (except 1 thing)
Cons: Was told petrol station was down the road to fill up, didnt find it so had to return car half empty. Easily fixed with printed map to this mystical place.
Car wasnt what I booked, but was still big enough and comparible.
Insurance wasnt covered on initial booking even though I had ticked the boxes, so had to pay extra for that when on site.

Not in terminal, not a VW and no aircon
I ordered a VW Polo or similar with collection in terminal. On arrival I got a cheap Korean car without air conditioning. And when I challenged why the car was not in terminal, Budget said that I should have gone direct and it would be definitively in the terminal. I feel ripped off.
Europcar Emirates Tower Dubai
We were very satisfied with everything and everything worked very well. Everything was explained to us very well and understandably. The only thing I can say negatively is that the opening times of the office on Saturday are noted on the contact form, no one was in the office at that time and also not reachable by phone. I would still recommend this company as the experience is very good. But next time we will take a bigger car.

One Way Fee Included Only if Free
Generally OK. Used voucher at Europcar in Portugal and they were fine and the car was more than adequate. However, the Argus voucher stated "One way fee included" but the small print said "If there is no payable at the counter fee, the one way is free". This is clearly nonsense so we had to pay a one way fee. Felt like I had been conned
